Specialty
Petrophysical properties and deterioration factors in stone and construction material used in construction and in the architectural and historical heritage.

Biography
Graduate in Geology (2008) and Doctor (2015) from the University of Granada (Spain). He currently has a Postdoctoral Researcher agreement with the Center of Excellence in Andean Geothermal Energy (CEGA) of the University of Chile.

Currently, he works as Assistant Professor and Deputy Director of the Doctoral Program in Neurosciences of the Faculty of Medicine of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His scientific interests focus on mineralogy, petrology, mineral transformation, petrophysical properties and geoarchaeology. In recent years he has studied the factors involved in the different deterioration processes that occur in natural stone, among other construction materials, used in the Historical and Architectural Heritage of Granada.

During his predoctoral period he also spent a stay at the University of Ghent (Belgium) to analyze the pore system and the deterioration of the texture using microcomputed tomography (µCT) as well as short stays at the universities of Alicante, Oviedo and Zaragoza (Spain) to complete your training in analytical techniques and methods.

Areas of interest
Petrophysical characterization of poorly porous crystalline rocks for modeling geothermal systems and mineral transformation associated with hydrothermal processes, protection and conservation of stone material altered by salts using calcium phosphates, geoarchaeology.
