Specialty: Heterogeneous Catalysis and Adsorbents, Catalytic Hydrotreatment (hydrodesulfurization, hydrodenitrogenation, hydrogenation and hydrodeoxygenation), Upgrading of Biofuels by catalytic processes, Micro and Mesoporous Materials.

Néstor Escalona graduated and received his professional degree in Chemistry at Universidad de Santiago de Chile in 1997, and in 2002, he received his Doctor degree in Chemistry at the same University. Between 2003 and 2006 he did a postdoctoral fellowship at “Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse et l’Environnement de Lyon”, France. Furhtermore, during 2013 he was Guest Professor at University of Maine, USA.

Currently, he works as an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioprocesses at Faculty of Chemistry at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
