The WITec Alpha 300 RA Raman spectrometer is a molecular vibrational state analyzer microscope that operates based on the quantum phenomenon “Raman shift.” Its confocal optics, coupled with AFM, enable the execution of micro-Raman mappings for chemical identification as well as the acquisition of high-resolution 3D Raman images.
The Confocal Raman / AFM spectrometer (WITec Alpha 300-RA) allows for local, chemical, and topographical analysis in a correlative manner, enabling the construction of a three-dimensional chemical image of a sample’s surface or simply the local identification of molecules. The spectrometer provides a lateral resolution of up to 200 nm and minimal penetration on the scale on the micrometer range. The system operates with a selectable wavelength of 532 nm and 785 nm, with adjustable intensity, achieving a spectral resolution of up to 0.2 cm-1.
The coupled atomic force microscope enables nanoscale topographic characterization. Its combination with an optical microscope allows preliminary inspection to select the area of interest for AFM measurements. The WITec AFM objective provides a direct view of the sample and cantilever, enabling accurate and direct positioning of the probe tip. No sample preparation is required and is minimally invasive.
